01 — The Boat

From the
harbour to the racecourse.

These photographs were taken in Barcelona in the days surrounding the 37th America's Cup — not just at the dock, but out on the water, chasing the same coastline and sailing theatre as the foiling AC75s.

The next edition sails in Naples in 2027. Close now, move south before the regatta does, and own the one boat in this story that delivers Buzzi speed, real rarity, and a front-row platform to the world's most spectacular sailing series.

FB Design
in the flesh.

Built in 2008 by FB Design S.R.L. to a Fabio Buzzi design. Twin Mercury Verado V8 300 HP outboards deliver 65 knots top speed and 38-knot cruise. Accommodations include 11 passengers plus captain, 1 cabin, chemical WC, aft shower, 2 Tecno double seats, fore and aft sunbeds, a revised T-Top (2024), stainless Bimini, new electric windlass and bilge pumps. Currently berthed Marina Botafoch, Ibiza.

Fabio
Buzzi.

Lecco, 1943 — Venice lagoon, 2019

The rare figure who designed, built, engineered and drove his own race boats — and won with all four hats on. He founded FB Design in 1971, raced his first Pavia–Venice at seventeen, and died at 76 doing exactly what he had always done: chasing a record, having just set a new Monte Carlo–Venice mark moments before the crash in the Venice lagoon.

In a 50-year racing career he took 52 world offshore titles, more than 40 world speed records, eight UIM Harmsworth Trophies, the Round Britain (1992 & 2004), the Cowes–Torquay–Cowes, and the Venice–Montecarlo–Venice. He built the first race boat ever in Kevlar 49 (Mostro, 1974), invented the Trimax surface drive now produced with ZF, and pioneered the STAB tube hull and structural-foam construction that make his boats effectively unsinkable.

In 2018, at 76, he set the fastest-ever diesel powerboat record at 277.5 km/h on Lake Como — a Guinness World Record that still stands.

The boats that mattered

V.6000 · Guardia di Finanza
2001

Twin MTU diesels with Trimax surface drives. 70+ knots. Built by Intermarine to Buzzi's design — still the fastest patrol unit in service in the Mediterranean.

FB 38 STAB · multi-force
1990s–today

The STAB tube hull adopted by the Italian Coast Guard, GdF, Albanian and Cypriot navies. Sister architecture to this F11.

Mostro
1974

First race boat in the world built entirely in Kevlar 49. Changed offshore racing forever.

Cesa 1882
1992

14-m diesel that won the Round Britain race — the boat Buzzi most often called his favourite.

04 — The Market

Seven hulls.
One planet.

Across the entire global brokerage network there are roughly nine listings representing seven distinct boats — all used, all in Europe, all from the 2007–2010 civilian range plus a single 1997 hull. Zero new boats. Zero listings outside Europe. With Buzzi gone, the number can only shrink.

Take it to
Naples.
